Independent Flyability Projects
We have a number of independent Flyability associated projects around the country that are able to offer tandem air experience flights to people with disabilities, either at a significantly reduced cost or on a complementary basis.
See also the Flyability Sponsored Tandem Flight Scheme
...and the Flyability Pilot Scholarship Scheme.
The independent projects listed below have made significant efforts to include and accommodate people with disabilities in their activities. Flyability has provided them all with a level of support, disability awareness training and/or funding.
Tandem hang gliding and paragliding air-experience flights can offer a unique and exhilarating insight into the sport of free-flying. An ideal introduction to the sport with the opportunity to see and experience exactly what is involved in getting your feet of the ground. This will help you to decide whether free-flying is for you.
Most BHPA registered schools are aware of the Flyability initiative and will be able to offer tandem air experience flights on a commercial basis (£30-£60).
Many BHPA registered clubs and air-experience schools are beginning to offer air-experience to potential new members. Generally the cost of these flights is lower than that of commercial schools.
Please note that any costs that may be involved for air-experience flights should be clarified with each school or club. There will probably be a small supplementary fee for insurance cover.
Providing that the independent Flyability project is a BHPA registered school or air-experience school, it is possible that the Flyability Sponsored Tandem Flight Scheme may cover tandem flight costs up to £50 / £90.
